An Act of Disappearing, 2025
Moving image performance, 2 min 44 secs
A silent, black-and-white experimental short film made in collaboration with Celina Liu.
Presence and absence, seeing and being seen.
Through slow movement, repetition, and abstraction, the piece explores transformation, disorientation, and the loss of a fixed self. Two female figures appear in constant flux, one stepping into the light, the other waiting in the shadows. As one crosses over, she glimpses a different reality, but returns changed. The boundaries between them begin to blur.
Filmed with minimal gestures and no dialogue, the film resists narrative closure. Instead, it plays with perception, duality, and internal shifts that feel almost imperceptible but are deeply felt. By the end, the two characters have become one, or neither. Their identities collapse into each other until identity disappears.
